This piece was particularly inspired by the exoskeleton of fish. Tisci attempted to capture the look of hard fish scales, but give the piece an overall effect of lightness. This effect was achieved by using a traditional couture technique that requires hand layering of paillettes. To create the scales, an approximate of 300 meters of tulle was used. The seamstresses at Givenchy hand cut and layered hundreds of individual cut tulle piece on top of one another in order to achieve the fish scale effect.
